Merry Christmas!
this is my 2010 post about Christmas. Last year it was the story of Jesus' birth, it was called 'Glory in the highest'. If you would like to read it it is the post below. This is my new one for this year so read this one if you like, or why not read them both?
So this year's post is called 'Why the Nativity?' We see every year the manger scene at our Churches, most of us Christians have a nativity scene in our homes, we hang a star on our tree every year, but why? This is why: Why a baby? What if Jesus decided to come to earth as a man? If he did, teenagers like myself, and kids wouldn't have any example of Christ's acts that we could follow to be more like him. That's why he came as a cute little baby, so he could be an example for everyone of all ages. Next is why a stable? When Jesus came to earth, Mary gave birth to him in a stable or maybe a small cave dwelling for animals. And she layed him in a Manger! A Manger! (thats a feeding box for cows.) There was no room in the inn for Mary, Joseph, new baby Jesus, because God wanted him to be born in the most humble places available. And that night, that stable became a temple for everyone to come and visit, including the dirtiest of them all, the sheperds! Which brings me to my next y. Why sheperds first? Well, think of it like this, the sheperds were despised by most people. They were homeless, dirty, men who earned minimum wage watching sheep. In modern day, people most despise garbage men. They are dirty. People look at them and say "I am glad I am richer and have a better job". Ok so my metaphor is trying to say, If Jesus returned to earth tomorrow, and he told the garbage men first. Thats how it was with the sheperds. They came humbly to see and maybe even held, the king of the universe as a baby. Later, around December about three years later, hiding from Herod in a house in egypt, the three wisemen came to see Jesus. They realized that he was the king and so they gave him gifts of gold, frankencense, and myrr. This is where we get the worlds most famous part of Christmas, The gifts! Everybody loves to receive gifts but it is good to give a gift. Because Jesus gave the greatest give in all mankind and that was his life. And that is exactly why the nativity.
Have a Merry Christmas!
